Especially popular among buyers is black matte paint in cans, the features of which we will consider in this article.

Advantages and disadvantages

Matte black paint has many advantages:

  1. Versatility( paint can be used for painting a wide variety of products, including cars andplastic products).
  2. Easy to apply.
  3. Particles are well dispersed, unlike many other paints, where the same effect can be achieved only with the help of expensive professional equipment.
  4. Resistant to ultraviolet light, thanks to which the surface retains a saturated color even after many years.

  6. Heat resistance.
  7. Resistant to moisture and other environmental factors.
  8. Low cost.
  9. Non-toxic( this does not mean a failure of safety when applying paint).
  10. When spraying, no solvent is needed to create the desired viscosity.
  11. Fast drying.
  12. Black color well emphasizes the shape of the object.
  13. The black matte color makes mechanical damage and pollution less noticeable.

There are relatively few drawbacks in matte paint, but they are still available:

  1. The cost of painting services is quite high. But even if you work with your own hands, painting will not be expensive.
  2. Matte coatings often change the tonality after application to the surface. Therefore, the right choice of paint - a very important task, requiring experience.
  3. The matte finish is difficult to grind. After grinding, the surface, as a rule, does not look very attractive.
  4. The matte background, as opposed to the glossy one, easily gets dirty. Such a surface will often have to be cleaned. In addition, on a matte background always stand out mud stains, which does not add to the attractiveness of the painted product.
  5. In itself, black also has a drawback - it attracts the sun's rays, because the reflectivity of this color is very weak. In a black car, other things being equal, it will always be hotter than in white or red.

Areas of application

Matt paint is used for painting almost any type of surface:

  • wood( including furniture);
  • metal;
  • of concrete;
  • plasters;
  • plastics.

It is very popular matte paint for painting cars. Most often, this paint is used to process racks and thresholds.

When painting, the following requirements must be observed.

Materials required

Before starting work, a number of materials must be prepared, including:

  • primer;
  • respirator for respiratory protection and gloves to protect the skin from the ingress of paint;
  • Duster;
  • paint tape, paper( you can use a newspaper) or an oilcloth to prevent paint from entering unwanted areas.

Substrate preparation

Before applying the paint, we arrange the workplace, protecting the paper or the oilcloth with areas that need to be left unpainted. Next, we prepare the surface for the application of LMC on it.

Work order:

  1. Remove the old coating layer from the surface( if any).
  2. We clean the material from dirt, dust, rust and other contaminants. The purer the material, the better the adhesion( adhesion of dissimilar materials).If the dirt is not cleaned off with a damp cloth, we use household chemicals.
  3. If the surface is polished, you will need an abrasive to give the material some roughness. Sandpaper treatment is designed to improve adhesion.
  4. We glue the paint tape with the border of the area to which we will apply the paint. We stick the adhesive tape carefully, to prevent the ink from flowing under it.
  5. Apply a primer coat to the surface. When choosing a primer, we proceed from the type of paint and base material.

Please note! To start the application of paint is possible only after the final drying of the primer.

Painting works are performed in the following order:

  1. We put on goggles, respirator and gloves.
  2. Shake the can to make the paint inside the same consistency.
  3. Apply the test layer to the rough surface( an unnecessary board, a piece of metal, etc.) to evaluate the spray quality.
  4. Apply the first layer to the primed base. The can is held at a distance of about 20 centimeters from the surface. The torch is moved slowly, but the paint layer should not be too thick.
  5. Wait for the surface to dry out( usually within 24 hours) and apply a second coat.

Please note! If the paint is designed for facade work, the painting is allowed only in dry and warm weather, otherwise it will not be possible to achieve good adhesion.

This painting can be considered complete. If painting works are made with observance of technology, the paint layer will last for several years.
